About Accounting
Accounting deals with the financial data needed to manage businesses in both the private and public sector. Accounting professionals determine and communicate the financial operations of a business or organization. This field includes auditing, management accounting, financial accounting, international accounting, forensic accounting, tax accounting, and public-sector accounting.
Many accountants pursue Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification to diversify their job opportunities. CPAs may become entrepreneurs, starting their own accounting firms, or work as external auditors for major accounting firms. Others hold management positions in private companies, government and institutions.
Hands-On Projects
Many courses include opportunities for you to learn real-world skills on projects for local businesses, nonprofit organizations and campus offices. Recently Converse accounting students analyzed and made recommendations to improve accounting and information systems for a local clothing shop, a jewelry designer and a bail bonds office.
